ATI RADEON HD4550 DRIVER DRIVERS
I've read there were troubles with the ATI drivers not being able to read the correct EDID information from the AVR but this has been fixed since Catalyst 9.1 and Catalyst even shows my display as DENON-AVAMP and it displays fine at 1920x1080 once I have adjusted the overscan. I have tried adjusting pretty much all of the settings on the AVR but I couldn't find a combination that resolved the problem. It seems as though the signal is being sent to the AVR but for whatever reason is not being decoded and therefore causing the white noise. There is only some sort of white noise output through the speakers however.

If I skip in to the file (any length) then the display switches over from ANA to DIG and the front speakers light up on the display. The weird thing is, if I play a file with AC3/DTS my AVR does nothing on the display and nothing comes out of the speakers. I am using Media Player Classic HomeCinema with AC3Filter - AC3 and DTS passthrough are both ticked. The problem arises once AC3/DTS is tried to be played (even ac3 2.0). If I play an mp3 via Winamp then that works as expected, as does playing an xvid file that has mp3 audio. My problem is that I can only get stereo sound (sort of). My operating system is Windows XP SP3 x86. Radeon 4550 HDMI -> Denon 1909 (HDMI Port 1) -> Samsung LE40M87BD. The Radeon has a HDMI port on it so there is no need for a DVI-HDMI adapter.

I've been trying to get HDMI audio working on my Denon 1909 AVR for the past 6 hours and it's just not happening and pretty much sums up the luck I've been having with PCs this week.
